Since 2014 Pavement Pounders have been recording the spoken memories of the people of the Kent seaside towns of Dover, Folkestone, Margate and Ramsgate. By 2021, having built a substantial archive, we needed to bring that archive to life, furthering our primary aim of strengthening community through our shared heritage.
Voicing our Past grew from that need. We got young people to voice extracts from our original spoken memory interviews.

To reach voicers in Thanet
We posted appeals on social media for individual voicers. This proved very successful attracting volunteers of all ages from many backgrounds happily widening the range of people involved.
